saving to avi

I am having a problem with Movie Maker 2, so I made a two clip test movie.
I went to "tools" "titles and credits", added "title at beginning of movie"
as my first clip. I edited this clip and added a piece of text that simply
says "hello". I then added the "slow down half" effect to it twice to
increase the time the clip is shown to 11 seconds. I then copied and pasted
this clip to become the second clip. The text was changed to "hello2". The
two clips play in MM2 perfectly with each clip lasting 11 seconds.
Now my problem......
If I then goto "file, save movie file, my computer, etc, and save as
"DV-AVI", I end up with an avi file.
But, when I play this avi file in Media player 2 (or any other player), the
"movie" starts as a blue pane, with text but plays only 3 seconds then
changes to black until it meets the second clip and text, and plays that for
only 3 seconds.
If I save as a WMV file.....it plays like it should....
What, pray tell, am I doing wrong......I can repeat this every time...

I now have a blue pane with the text "hello" in it.....The next clip has a
blue pane with the text "hello2". Each of the two clips has a "slow down
effect"
Now I "save movie" as a .WMV file and play it in Media player
9....everything works.
Now if I save the movie as a DV-AVI

FYI......I corrected the problem by removing the "slow down half" effects.
These seem to have been the culprit. I accomplished the same effect by
stretching the clip in the timeline and now all is ok......
