saving problems

When I try to save an appointment the Calendar program shuts down and
restarts itself. Once it is restarted the appointment is not there, so I know
it is not saving and then restarting.

Any help would be appreciated.

The first thing I'd do in this situation is to create a new mail profile.
If your delivery location is a PST, you can point the new profile at the
existing PST so that all your existing data is there.
