I'm new to Access and have inherited a large database to input client
information. I insert new records, save and close the file but when I go
into the database, info that I input the day before is missing.
How do I keep all the data that is input? What is the proper order to input
data?

Gabby,
As with most troubleshooting, I have to ask if your database has a
main entry screen (typically, a window with text boxes and buttons
like 'Save', 'Add', and 'Close') that you use to enter new client
information? If you use an entry form, then there's a pattern you
have to follow. When you enter a new client record, you should click
an 'Add' button to go to a new record. If you simply enter a client,
then click 'Save' and return to the beginning of the form and type in
a new client over the saved one, then you may be losing your work.

Hopefully, you haven't been overwriting your last record. But please
reply with some details on how you make entries.

Pete,

The main entry screen appears and I click on Insert/New Record. Once I
typed in the info, I save the screeen and do the same to add on another
record. I've done this in Form View, in Datasheet View, etc. On the screen
it's showing the record being added but then disappears the next time I
access it.
I'm obviously doing something in the wrong order so any help you can give me
is appreciated.

Gabby,
Sorry about the long wait. I've been very busy.
Did you ever get a solution to the records disappearing?

Pete

Pete,

I haven't gotten a solution yet. I Goggled the problem and the answer
indicated that you need to move to a blank record to save? Is that correct?
I know there's got to be a simple answer. Thanks for your help Pete.
