Saving emails as .msg files

I save emails from my Outlook inbox and sent folders to various job folders
in the C:\My Documents folder. When I open the email and click the File,
Save As menu options the default File, Save As file type is .htm. I
manually change the default File, Save As file type to .msg so the email
attachment will be saved with the email. Then I add the date that the email
was sent or received to the file name and then save the email to the job
folder.

How do I change the default File, Save As file type to .msg so I do not have
to make this change manually each time I save an email to a job folder?

Is there a way to append the email sent or received date to the email file
name? I looked for an Outlook add-in or utility that would do this, but did
not find one.

It is time consuming and tedious to save hundreds of emails this way one by
one (saving emails this way is required by the company I work for) and I
hope someone knows a way to automate this process. Thanks in advance for
your help.
