hi
where do i find the select option for where downloaded files are to be saved
in xp . at the moment the default is the desktop and i would prefer them to
go to a folder of my choice.
thanks

The option to change the default save location is in the Download pop-up box
that appears whenever you start a new download. After clicking the Save
button, just browse to the location you want the file to be saved to. The
new location will be retained for subsequent file downloads.

Run regedit and navigate to,

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer]

Change the "Download Directory" to where ever you want the location to be.
But if the user then decides to select a different location this key will
change to the different location.

I don't know anyway to make it a permenant change.

What browser are you using to download?
