Saving docs after update

I'm working on a network, pulling forms off a server, changing them and then
trying to save the changed doc under a new name. After installing the most
recent MS updates, Word now tells me I cant save the file under the new name.
It will let me save the changed doc under the original name. The problem is
unique to Word, it does not occur if I use Wordpad.

Look into using templates for your base documents instead of documents. For
more on the different kinds of templates, tabs on the file new dialog, and
locations of templates folders see

Do you happen to have a utility called Registry Explorer installed? If
so then uninstall it and see if the issue is rectified.

Please post all follow-up questions to the newsgroup. Requests for
assistance by email can not be acknowledged.

If you installed Windows update KB885250 "MS05-011: Vulnerability in
server message block could allow remote code execution", try
uninstalling KB885250 in Start | Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs.
See http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=895900 "You cannot save a file
from your Windows XP-based or Windows 2000-based computer to a shared
folder on a file server" for more information.
