Saving Copy of e-mails from ISP (SMTP and Pop3 enabled)

I have Cox Commuications as my ISP. I have set to have my e-mails sent to
Outlook 2003 w/SP2. I would like to keep a copy of the e-mail with Cox.
Currently, once I open Outlook, all e-mails are sent and no longer available
at Cox. Cox says I have to change settings on Outlook. I have been trying to
figure this out for last 3 days. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Go to Tools - Options - Mail Setup - Data Files. Select the account and
click on Change - More Settings - Advanced. There you should see the option
to leave a copy of messages on the server. Note that it could be slightly
different as I have Outlook 2007...it's a little different than 2003 so I
had to write it from memory. Hopefully, you get the idea.

Tim, thanx for the reply. However, once I select my account, there is no
option to change, so everything else is unavailable. I am able to add, detele
or compress, but, unable to save mail to server. Thanks again for taking time
to responsd. I really appreciate your time.

Try going to Tools -> Email Accounts. "View or change existing accounts"
should already be selected, so click Next.

In this window, select your POP3 account and click the Change button over on
the right. Once in there, click the More Settings button. Once in the
settings, click on the Advanced tab and check the box to leave a copy of
mail on the server.

However...

You will want to verify with Cox what your mailbox size limitation is. Any
mail you leave on the server will contribute to this size. I can't begin to
tell you how many customers I've had in the past that would complain about
people trying to send them mail and having it returned saying "mailbox is
full" and spending hours going through the mail in their local Outlook
client, moving things around, deleting things, etc., none of which would do
any good as it was the mailbox on the *server* that was full, not their
Inbox on their computer. Somehow they'd configured it to leave a copy on
the server, but had not set a time period to remove them (such as after 30
days or something). I'd look at their mailbox on the server and there would
be thousands and thousands of emails dating back a year or more. So get
informed, find out what your server mailbox size limitation is (if any)!

Tim,
Thank you so much for your response. This worked! I really appreciate your
help and detailed instructions. I just tested and this works exactly as I
wanted. Your help is really appreciated. Thank you for the tip on keeping the
server mail box cleaned so as not to block any incoming mail. There was a
setting to delete from the server after 'X' days or when deletled from
Outlook. I chose the 'when deleted' option, for now.
