saving and updating a document without needing to re-send e-mail?

Is there any possibility of saving a word doc in 1 Outlook without attaching it to a message.
The reason is so that I can update the document without haveing to send a mail to myself with the updated doc every time? (we have meetings and I just want to update the info) I want the doc in outlook as it's easy to search and is linked to mails relating to the same topic.

The only option I can think of is save as a task.
