I recently added a second hard drive to a compuer. I want to make this a
'backup' hard drive. For some reason, I cannot access this drive from a
different computer attached to the network. The drive shows up in my network
places, yet it remains inaccessable with all my efforts of allowing me to
save my backups to this drive or even opening it. Please help!!!!!

Hi,

This is a known problem with Vista. I can't offer you a solution but only a
temporary work around.

The Microsoft Windows One Care software will allow a backup to a network
drive and its free for three months.

Hopefully the Vista SP2 might be out by the end of the trial and the problem
will be sorted.

Follow this link for the One Care trial download.

Hope this might be of some help.

It feels like I am just missing something though. The backup hard drive is in
a vista machine and the backups I want to save to it, are coming from a xp
machine. The drive shows up in the network places on the xp machine, but when
I go to add the path to the drive or just try to open anything on the vista
machine, I get the same answer. "This drive is not assessible. You might not
have permission to use this network resource. Contact the admin of this
server to find out if you have access permissions. Access is denied."
Please help!!!
