Vista Ultimate Backup

I recently installed a workstation on my home network with Vista Ultimate. I
attempted to use the Windows Backup software that is part of Vista, to backup
up the computer to a network server. The server runs Windows XP Professional
and has an internal 500GB drive with a backup directory shared to allow users
to make changes.

During the backup setup, I am receiving an error that says I don't have the
necessary rights to use this shared network directory. All of my other
computers run Windows XP Professional and have no issues backing up to this
same network drive. The difference is Vista vs. XP Pro and that the Vista
computer is using the built-in backup software and the XP Pro computers are
using Norton Backup.

Also, on the Vista machine, I was able to use a backup utility in Adobe
Photoshop Elements to backup to this same shared server drive - I just can't
use the built-in Windows backup.

Any suggestions on what I may need to do to get Vista to recognize this
shared drive are appreciated.

Thank you!

Just to make sure you have the right permissions, try browsing to the share
using it's UNC path (\\computerName\folder\backup) and try creating a new
file, like right-click and make a New > Text Document.

Thanks for the suggestion. Yes, I can create a new folder and a text file
from my Vista machine on the XP Pro server.

More info on the backup. I can enter the name of the share, but when I go
to use it a window pops up asking me to enter a user ID and password. I've
tried the administrator ID and password for the XP Pro server and that
doesn't work.
