savice icons on favorites list

When you save a site in your "favorites" sometimes it is saved with a special
Icon representing that site. I used to go into my explorer and find that
favicon in the Temp internet files and be able to save it permanently and
associate it with the favorite listing so it did not disappear when I cleaned
out my temp files. With XP, I cannot find where those are saved. Can
anyone help?

Hi,

There are still stored in the TIF.

Preserve the favicons using AM-Deadlink:

Is there no way to do this manually like I used to prior to XP? I would just
go into the temp internet files and copyand rename the favicon to my hard
drive and then change the icon to that saved one. I just can't find where
they are saved with XP. I do not have "permission" to install any download

Saved in any of the folders under:

Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\

Or, you can download the .ico manually.

Visit that site and create a shortcut of it to the Desktop
Right-click the URL shortcut, and Send To > Notepad

Look at the line reading IconFile:

Example:
IconFile=http://www.google.co.in/favicon.ico

Now, type http://www.google.co.in/favicon.ico in the browser window and save the .ico file locally.
