Saved Meassage Folders Disappeared

I am using Outlook Express. this morning I find that all of my saved emails,
in specific In box & Sent folders, have disappeared.
1) Is there any way I can locate and recover these .. if so , how.
2) Why?how did this happen

Note that this is an Microsoft Office Outlook forum.

Outlook Express is family of Internet Explorer and Outlook of the Office
family.
