Save to Server 2003 read only error

I have several users that have all access except delete for a directory on
the server.
I create a word, excel or powerpoint file and try to save only to get a read
only error returned. I can open wordpad or notepad and type and save it to
the directory without error. Any assistance would be appreciated.

I am having a similar issue since Office SP3 was applied to my PC. I can open
a word doc and save it multiple times throughout the day and then
sporadically a dialog will pop up with a permission issue saying that I don't
have permissions to save the file and I'm forced to use Save As... to rename
the file.

Hopefully a hotfix is forthcoming.
