Save the same file to different location - Change one, Change all

What I want to do is save the same file to different locations, but if I have
to make a change I want to make it only on one document and have it changed
in all the files. I am not sure how to linke the saved files?

On the face of it, the obvious question is why have several cooies of the
same file? But I think I understand, perhaps!

Investigate the Windows Briefcase. A Briefcase makes a copy of a file that
becomes another copy of an original. Upon the original changing, the copy is
flagged as being out of sync. In this scenario, either the original can be
restored or the copy can be updated.

Essentially:

right click on your desk top and select New + Briefcase: this adds an icon.
double click on the icon to open it.
with another instance of Explorer, find your file and drag it into the open
briefcase.

The rest should be self-evident.
