Saving document location

Hi - I am working with Word & Outlook 2003.

I am constantly saving documents that come to me as attachments in emails in
the same folder on my desktop but everytime I go to save a new file, it
automatically opens my temp folder.

Can I change this to open to save to a different location or is the temp
file the default save location and cannot be changed?

If you right click the document filename attached to the message and select
save as, before opening it in Word, the default location should be My
Documents. If you want to add a different location the simplest approach is
to add that location to the Places Bar

Hi I am working with Outlook 2007 and I had been going to the file menu and
save as my emails with attachments and other documents in my desktop Do
cuments... after a few days I had to check on one of my saved documents...
and was unable to read it... it presented me with 3 lines themedata XML,
filelist XML and colorsheme XML whichever of the 3 lines I click.....
took me to a BLUE SCREEN titled Microsoft Presentation..... I am at wits
end... trying to recover my documents and nothing.... Microsoft does not
chat anymore unless you pay $50 so all I have is you..... Please help

It sounds like you have saved an e-mail as an HTML file, and that you are
then opening the 'files' folder. Your attachments are not there; they are
not saved as part of that process. You should have saved the attachments
separately - which you may have done, it is hard to tell from what you
write - and then tried to open them, rather than the covering e-mail.
