Changes to my desktop, like adding quick launch and
expanding the taskbar to 1 inch do not save to my settings
when I restart the computer and everything goes back to
the original windows settings, but other user accounts on
the computer can make and save changes. My user is set to
current user and I created a default user and made the
changes their but they do not work when I log in under my
original user, any suggestions appreciated, thanks.

Hi Mark,

Save Settings on Exit (Line 54)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it
and answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by
right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.
