Save password problem in dial-up (ie6 winxp sp2)

I can't get my internet dial-up password to change. When the box comes up,
there is a very long series of dots, and the save password box is ticked. I
have tried changing the password directly in the box, and in the internet
options in IE. Every time I do this, the very long series of dots reappears,
and I have to clear and re-type the password every time I connect. I read
somewhere that the long series of dots is standard and is covering up what
ever the password really is regardless of length. I don't think this is
correct as I get an invalid password error if I try to connect as it is. This
is driving me mad! Any advice gratefully received!

Hi,
Have you tried unchecking the "Save Password" box then restarting the
computer?

Or, if using XP, go to Control Panel> User Accounts> [your account]> Manage
my network passwords. Anything stored there that should be deleted?

Hope this helps,
Don

Thanks Don, tried both of those, neither worked, sadly. Is there anywhere in
the registry that could be hacked to alter this?
