save msg's in flash drive

I plugged in a flash drive and chose export,msg's., & it wanted to know what
folder to store msg.s in. All I could do is make a new folder, so I made
one: F:\laptop When I tried to store into this folder, I got a msg. with
something like "The export directory must be an empty directory.Please
select an empty directory and try again." I was hoping this would be easy.
What do I do next?

Windows Mail can't export directly to an external drive. Export to an
empty folder in your Documents folder, then copy from there to the
external drive.
