Save movie clips

I want to save small clips recorded from TV so they can be viewed with
Windows Media Player. I can cut the clips out that I want to save and
view with Media Center, but Media Center saves the clips in a format
that Media Player can't open and play. Is there a way to do this with
the Windows software or is there a free / cheap program that will
record TV, let me edit it, and save clip that can be played By Media
Player? Thanks

Are you using windows media center? If so post to the media center
newsgroup and/or one of the media player newsgroups. Make sure you specify
what version of WMP and other software you're using and how you are
recording these TV clips.
