Save mode for windows XP

Hello,

I installed Norton Antivirus and I had Mcafee still running
Now i rebooted the computer, after this Xp starts also all my other programs such as MCafee and firewall, but Norton Antivirus doesn't. After this the computer hangs and doesn't start any other programs. It doesn't react on CTR+ALT+DEL and doesn't start START button and sow on...

My question is it possible to come in a save mode just like windows 98 , so that I can remove some programs.....

please help me I am helpless and I have some data on my computerthat I didn't save!!!!

Press F8 (like 95/98/ME - though some 98/ME machines didn't respond to F8)
