Save hard disk space occupied by Vista.

Hard disks are cheap these days, but not free and won't be free in the
future. It's OK if it is occupied things that I use, but sadly, not
always so.

For example, I can remove unused components , say games, at the "Turn
Windows features on or off", but it doesn't seem to be removed from
the hard disk, because the next time I add them again, Vista doesn't
require the Vista DVD. After checking the directories manually I could
find many unnecessary things like update installation file cache.

If you know any tips to save hard disk spaces occupied by Vista,
please let me know. Thank you.

Sorry, those 'general' tips know I already. I don't have unncessary
applications installed by me, and removing temp folder or temporary
internet files are not really helpful. System restore data is
intentionally kept in case some error occurs. I'd rather want some
tips like removing uncessary component of Windows Vista completely
from the hard disk, or physically removing some files that are
unncessary., for example the update cache that could be found at
Windows\SoftwareDistribution.

How many restore points do you need? Your system is reserving - and
will use - 15% of your drive to keep restore points. You can make
that smaller. If you cut that to 7%, you'd free up GIGs.

I told you that I found something using Google.

I wasn't telling a story... I WAS TRYING TO GIVE YOU A BIG HINT.
