Save contact birthday as anniversary instead of an appointment?

Is there anyway in Outlook '07 to get Outlook to save the contacts birthday
as an anniversary instead of just an appointment. Why I need this is because
when I sync Outlook with my phone (Samsung X820) the birthdays do not come in
the phone as re-occurring events. They only exist upto the date of sync'ing.
So, if I sync my phone with Outlook today Nov 1st then all the birthdays will
be reoccurring from the date of birth till Nov 1st where all the
re-occurrences end. I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium. I use Samsung PC
Studio to sync my phone with Outlook. Anyone have any idea?

Outlook saves birthdays as all-day, recurring (yearly recurrence) events.
If your Samsung doesn't see them that way, then look to your sync software
provider.
