Save as...

Good day. My daughter is using Word 2000 and when she
opens a document, makes changes to it and wants to save
the document as a new name, the option to Save is in the
menu under File, but the option to Save As is not.

Any suggestions?
Thanks, Danno...

Hi Danno

Tools > Customize. On the Toolbars tab, click on the "Menu Bar" entry, and
click Reset.

If that doesn't work, try the steps outlined at
My menus and toolbars are missing and won't come back

Hope this helps.

Good day Shauna, thanks for the quick reply. I am very
embarrassed. My daughter is in another state, so I am not
able to see what she is doing on her computer. When I
asked her if she saw a drop-down arrow indicating more
menu items, she thought that I meant on the task bar at
the bottom of the screen. Once she discovered the
additional menu item list, the Save As was there.
Thanks, Danno...

Hi Danno

You shouldn't be embarrassed. The "adaptive menus", as they're called, can
be very confusing for everyone. To turn them off, so you always see all the
menu items, Tools > Customize. On the Options tab, tick "Always show full
menus" in Word 2003, or something similar in earlier versions of Word.

Hope this helps.

To clarify, "Always show full menus" must be checked in Word 2002 and 2003.
In Word 2000, it's just the opposite: you have to clear the check box for
"Menus show recently used items first." There was a similar flip-flop on the
dialog box wording regarding showing the Standard and Formatting toolbars on
one or two rows.
