Save as PDF problem

Hi:

I'm using Word 2007 with the MS Save as PDF add-in. This works fine except
web addresses (hyperlinks) in Word documents are rendered with a box around
them in the PDF. I tried some of the options available from the "Publish as
PDF or XPS" dialog but don't seem to be able to prevent this.

Has anybody found a way to turn off the drawing of rectangles around
hyperlinks (preferably, permanently)?

Thanks

Hi Mike,

I'm not seeing this in testing a Word 2007 document.

How are you creating the hyperlinks?
What font are you using in the document?
Do you have a border included in Word's 'Hyperlink' style?

Thanks for looking. While going through the steps to produce the problem I
found something interesting.

If I convert to PDF using File Save As PDF or XPS, all works as it should.

However, if I convert to PDF by clicking on the "Publish to PDF or XPS" icon
which I put on the Quick Access Toolbar, then the hyperlinks are enclosed in
rectangles.

Do you see the same?

Hi Mike,

I get the same result (unboxed hyperlink) using either approach.
Do you get the same 'Publish as PDF or XPS' dialog using either command sequence?

Are you using any 3rd party add-ins?

Instead of saving the or publishing the doc to PDF within Word, try using
Acrobat to convert the doc to PDF.

For some crazy reason, when I print to PDF from Word, the links don't work.
However, if I open Acrobat Pro (I use v 8), and then use the "Create PDF from
File" option, the links work perfectly. I think that it is because Word uses
an older version of the distiller than does Acrobat.

I get the identical dialog box whether I use the icon or Save As to access
the PDF or XPS add in.

I have two sets of other add-ins. One is a set of 5 add ins that makes up
Endnote X (a bibliography/citation program). The other is Pshmidt's ribbon
customizer.

These add ins are more valuable to me than getting the PDF add in to work
properly (particularly as I now know I can make it work by activating it from
Save As), so I'm going to live with the mystery.

Thanks very much for your help.

It has always been the case that you have to use the Acrobat add-in to
provide full compatibilty with Word, however the OP is not using Acrobat but
the Microsoft PDF add-in for Word 2007 as stated in his original post.
