save as audio file

Does anyone know is it possible - after creating a project/film to burn the
audio only onto CD?

Sure but you need to create an audio file first.
To do this save your project as a WMV file and import that back into Movie
Maker.
Then drag the new WMV file to the Audio/Music portion of the timeline.
Now you can click "Save to my computer" again and audio options will come up
and the audio only will be saved as a WMA file.

if you're making an audio CD using WMP to burn it, rename the WMV file to
WMA and burn the disc. Then rename it back when done.

I didn't know renaming the file would let you treat it as a WMA.
