HI,
Does anyone know if it is possible to save just the audio from a
Movie to an MP3 file?

Ben

=============================
You can save as a .wma file:

In Windows Movie Maker 2.1....
To save only the audio track of a video clip...
drag the video to the "Audio/Music" track.
Then go to...File / Save Movie File / ect...ect......

This will result in a .wma audio file. Be sure
to drag the clip all the way to the left on the
timeline or you will have dead air at the
beginning.

If you must have .mp3 files...there are free
converters that can be downloaded from the
net.

Here are two examples that may be worth a try:

WMA to MP3 Converter
http://www.wma-mp3.org/

Switch Audio File Conversion Software
http://nch.com.au/switch/

What's wrong with following the instructions you were given? They are the
way to do it.

Choose save as and pick wma as an audio format and then convert to mp3. MM
does not natively produce MP3's.

I know i have to do the conversion outside of WMM. However when i go save as,
the only option is for .MSWMM not .wav?

THANKS

Instead of choosing...Save Project File...

Choose...

File / "Save *Movie* File" / My Computer / Next /
Enter A File Name and A Save Location / Next /
Next / The file will be saved in the .wma format.

If you must have .mp3 files...you can use the
..wma files to burn a Music CD and then RIP the
CD with .mp3 as the target format.

I believe I have the opposite problem. I want to delete/change the music I
downloaded from a web site. I can record new music but it only records
"over" the old song. Thanks. I have the video recorded in many different
ways : .avi , MSWMM and wmv.

When you have a question please
begin a new thread.

Sorry...but I'm not sure what your
question is...please provide a more
detailed explanation.

When a new file overwrites and old file
it's because the file name is the same.
You will usually see a dialog that says:
"Would you like to replace the existing
file xxxxx.xxx with this one xxxxx.xxx?"

Maybe renaming your files would be
the answer.
