save and find word doc

I create and save word documents but then can't find them where I saved them.
They don't even appear whne I step through My Computer and move through the C
drive. Yet, when I try to save them again, they appear; though while brosing
they can't be found. What's happening?

You could of course have saved them anywhere, but by default Word will save
them in the folder indicated at tools > options > file locations > documents
