Satta HHD Problem After Install

Ive just installed Vista Premium OEM on my pc and once it had finished
installing i checked in my computer only to find 2 off my sata hdd's are not
showing.
Ive gone into the disk manager and they are listed but are showing as
offline.
When i right click on them the only option i have is to " convert to basic
disk"
I presume this will wipe the disks which i really dont want to do as they
are full off stuff i want to keep.
Ive used the help and tried to bring them online via the command promt using
the "Diskpart" command but get the error "Diskpart encountered an error
while onlining the objects in the pack associated with the selected disk"
Is there anyway i can save the data on the disks..?
Can anyone explain why this has happened...?

Not a very great start to Vista for me.

The disks are dynamic by the way..

I've had a similar problem and just found a solution thx to someone @
msfn.org, although I must admit I've already converted my disks back to basic:
"After a frustrating weekend trying to get my two dynamic drives working
with Vista I finally figured it out:

1. Vista only supports Dynamic drives in Business and Ultimate - not Home
Premium. I upgraded from XP Pro to Home Premium. Try to find out where
Microsoft tells you that Premium doesn't support dynamic drives - I couldn't.
Microsoft wanted me to upgrade to Ultimate for an additional $ 169 . . . I
didn't want to.

2. It turns out that unless you are really using the features of dynamic
drives you can easily switch them back to basic (so Vista can see them)
without data loss.

The trick is to find diskprobe.exe. I took it out of the support cabinet on
my old Windows 2000 disk. If you are running Vista you can not download it
from Microsoft. Best bet is to pull it off an old windows disk.

It worked perfectly and was really really simple. Be sure to 'run as
administrator' when you run the software.

I hope this saves everyone lots of time (and money)."
