SATALink what is it?

I got a little blue guy on my taskbar and it says it is SATALink from
Silicon Image Software (loads on startup). The PC is brand new and came
with this installed on it. I was wondering what it is this program does.
When I open it seems to be logging some type of activity. And this is in
the help section

"Silicon Image's SATARaidTM provides Serial ATA Software RAID including
Striping and Mirroring to enhance the industry's first proven PCI-to-SATA
host controller product. Two major challenges facing the storage industry
today are keeping pace with the increasing performance demands of computer
systems by improving disk I/O throughput and providing data accessibility in
the face of hard disk failures. With the SiI 3112 Serial ATA host controller
and SATARaid, both of these problems are solved."

Im by far a PC expert and the above is all gibberish to me!

Thaanks for any help that you can give!

It has to do with your SATA Hard Drive(s) - your best bet is go to the PC
manufacturer's web site and research/download documentation on your PC - you
may even have it already on your PC or in the box the PC came in.
