sata problem on asus a8v deluxe

hello people!
Hopefully i can explain this correctly..i have a asus a8v and a maxtor 300
gig drive i know the drive is fine. but my problem is getting it to
recognize. my steps are quite easy but same problem everytime.
i turn on and computer get many things happening like no device on fast
track contoller ...no bios installed and at some point it goes into windows
xp ..ive installed drivers on toher sata boards no problems but this one
doesn seem to go. i press the f6 and load the drivers when its done loading
windows says starting but then stops and says no hard disk found. how can
it not be there?

I have just gone through a similar set-up and had to have the drivers on a
3.5" floppy before hitting F6. Let the comp go through start up without the
floppy in the drive, when you see the Question Hit F6 on the bottom of the
screen, load the floppy, then hit it.

then hit it............F6 that is.
