first off, many thanks to peter baker and alvin brown for
their answers to my problem.
have tried the f6 approach untill my fingers are blue.
Problem is xp always comes back with The filw TXT.OEM
could not be found.
I think the problem lies with the XP drivers.
I have downloaded the floppy install for xp.
Could anyone walk me through how to replace the windows
driver with my mb driver for the hard drive, like which
disk the driver is on, how to remove it and replace it?
Many thanks for reading this.

Hi stew

It sounds like you have the F6 method fine... you just have a problem in
terms of not placing all necessary files on the floppy disk - that's why
you're getting the error.

You're probably better off using the SATA drivers for XP from your MB
manufacturer's site.

Download the SATA drivers from there.... then all you need to do is place
ALL the contents of the download onto a floppy disk (it's probably a zip
file so just unzip it ALL onto a floppy disk) and then follow the F6
technique.

BTW You'll still need to do this even using the floppy disk installation of
XP.

Hope that helps
Pete
