Did you remember to partition and format it? If not, you need to do so.
You can do this from Disk Management.

Use Disk Manager to install (and format) at least one partition.
"Drive letters" are assigned to partitions, not drives.

Hi, Bill.

Use Disk Management (diskmgmt.msc) to create one or more partitions on the
hard drive and format the partition(s) and assign drive letter(s).

Partition and format it. You need to do that with any new drive, SATA
or otherwise, before it can be used.

I found the Disk Manager and am formating the drive. How do I make it the
primary drive?
I have a IE drive and it is C.

Bill, RUN, Don't Walk, to your nearest comp repair shop, you are not ready
to do anything as complex as adding a drive to your system.

Hello Steve:
Of all the posts I've read in Vista newsgroups, your answer to this
particular question deserves to have a check mark for providing the correct
