SATA drive shows as IDE

I've got a Maxtor 100GB SATA 150 drive in my system. When loaded with a fresh
install of XP Pro there are no issues. On boot the bios recognizes the drive
as SATA. Windows takes almost a minute to load, much longer than my IDE that
I just replaced. From device manager I have noticed that the drive is
recognized not as a SATA, but an IDE UDMA 6. I have used Everest Home and a
couple of other programs and each comes back with the same result.. the drive
appears as an IDE drive. Performance tests show I am at IDE 121 speed. Maxtor
does not have a driver disk so on install I cannot F6 and install SATA
drivers. Any help would be appreciated as I can swap this with my IDE drive
and everything boots fast. i expected better from a SATA drive?

Thanks!

Don't get too discouraged with it yet. Check your device manager, does your
SATA drive controller have the latest drivers installed? If not, just go to
the manufacturer website and download the latest driver. That should fix it.
If the driver update doesn't work, you could always contact the motherboard
manufacturer for help. They should be able to walk you through any issue you
are having.
