SASSER patch slows down windows

HELP!!

My computer was infected with the virus this morning, so
I went to the site in time and downloaded the patch as
suggested. Update 835732. Then applied the Windows-
KB841720-ENU.exe on top of it.

However, my computer has been NOT been operational
since. Everything slows to a halt. It took 10 minutes
for the system to boot up and display all the icons. I
couldn't get connected to the internet via proxy server.
(I am using another laptop to type this message).

Are these patches reversible? I almost wish I am stuck
with the virus than having my system slow down like
this...

Anything I can do to fix this problem?

the patches don't remove the virus they just prevent new infection. you need
a new virus scanner to actually remove the infection... or follow one of the
manual removal processes.
