Hello, I have an HP G85 multi function printer that
worked perfectly in win 98. Now, I have installed the
printer in Win XP but when I press "SCAN" on the printer
it does nothing, nor does the scan function work from the
HP Director application. According to Microsoft they say
this:

SYMPTOMS
When you try to scan an image on a Universal Serial Bus
(USB) multifunction printer/scanner device, the scan may
not succeed.

CAUSE
Usbscan.sys may not work on composite-type USB devices.
It assumes that the scan interface is the first interface
on the device, and if that is not true, it does not load
properly.

To resolve this problem immediately, contact Microsoft
Product Support Services to obtain the hotfix.

This is ridiculous...I don't have time for all this!
Microsoft should just post the solution instead of making
us call for it.

**Has anyone had the same problem with their printer and
successfully found a fix for this issue? Please, please
let me know.

What is the problem with calling them up? You will NOT have to pay
anything... they're there 24 hours a day... it will probably take only a few
minutes. There are only a very few people who may be having this problem.

If you do not have the time to call them up, how will you have the time to
fix the PC if someone else gives you the fix!
