Hi all,

bought a Samsung TFT 901 B, that runs according to the manufacturer with 60
or 75 Hz in any resolution. At max. resolution Windows XP 64 bit omly shows
60 Hz as max. frequency (1280x1200). How can I set up 75 Hz?

Buy a graphics card that supports the resolution and refresh rate you wish
to use, your current one doesn't seem to support the settings you want to
use

You have to let windows know you have the TFT 901B model..

You can do it by installing the driver that probably came with it in a
floppy disk or
cd, or you can find it on the samsung site.

Drivers for monitors are not crucial, but they do provide XP with the
information
to constrain resolution and/or refresh rates under the safe levels according
to the monitor it thinks it has.

At the moment XP probably thinks you have a default plug and play monitor
or it remembers an older monitor.

If you dont know how to install the driver, ask and I will tell you.

Not all cards support all resolutions/refresh rates. You can't see what
options he has in the same way I can't so you can't claim that it is
supported. You can only go off what he has said as I have done, or get him
to look again. But if the option isn't there it isn't there.

60Hz is the industry standard for TFT monitors and laptop displays.
Most manufacturers, including Samsung, craft drivers that preclude end users
from exceeding 60 Hz.
Some manufacturers, including Samsung, "overbuild" their product so that
users who insist on forcing the refresh rate to 75Hz won't immediately
damage their TFT.

I am sure that his card can support 75 Hz at 1280x1024. I dont have to know
what display adaptor he has.

its a monitor driver problem as I indicated .. read the other posts on this
thread.

Odd--My 930B is rated to 75 Hz, yet the inf file shows 56-81hz for max
resolution settings.

Dear John,

i have a graphic card with the NFORCE 7800, and it supports all resolution
and frequencies known. I installed the original graphic driver, although it s
not explicit for Windows XP 64 bit. Unusually it is, that before i installed
the driver, I m allmost shure i had 75 Hz. Windows 64 recognises the correct
model.

Thanks, I did not find the newsgroup. Anyhow, strange that on MS page, the XP
64 Forum is not awailable. Think they shut it off cause they do not want bad
press...

How, exactly, is it you know that? Use a newsreader to access it.

I have 3 different makes of TFT, all manuals say they support 75Hz, None is
a Samsung.
