Samsung Miniket

I've recorded AVI files on a SC-X105L Samsung Miniket camcorder. I
downloaded the Miniket Decoder from the Samsung website, so I can watch the
files in Windows Media Player. However, when I try to edit the files in
Windows Movie Maker I get a message that says:
"The file C:\Documents and Settings\Rob Jones\Desktop\MOVIE\SMOV0004.AVI
cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not
installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install
the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the
file again."
I tried closing and restarting Windows Movie Maker and I keep on getting the
same result. I'm sure the codec required is installed because I'm able to
watch the files in Windows Media Player. I tried converting the files using
Windows Media Encoder, Blaze Media Pro, and AVI to MGEG Converter, but none
of these 3 programs will recognize the AVI files from the Samsung Miniket
camcorder as valid files. The last program informed me that the file format
is AVI, the video format is SDEG, and the codec is unkown. Please help me
find a way to make the AVI files from the Samsung Miniket work with Windows
Movie Maker.

The camcorder records in MPEG-4 format, meant for viewing and not editing.

Codecs used to view it are not necessarily going to work in an editing
app... as you see.

I'd be glad to look at conversion options if you email a small sample... a
10 second clip would be enough. I just downloaded the codec but don't have a
sample file to use...... > email to papajohn.....at.... chartermi....dot...
net.

I have the same issue. Did anything ever get resolved with this? I really am
not hapy that I cannot edit the video from the camera. Thanks for your help!
