I have noticed a folder under my C:\ drive that I
previously have not seen.

The folder is titled SAM. And the following files are
underneath it:

SAMHW.exe
KIX32.exe
KX16.dll
KX32.dll

Does anyone know what these are???

The three files whose names begin with "K" are, if they're genuine,
components of KiXtart, a "logon script processor and enhanced batch
scripting language" which is distributed as part of the Resource Kit.
If you or your system administrators have been doing som scripting, that
might explain the presence of these files. Otherwise, they may be
symptoms of an invasion. "SAM" is disturbibgly suggestive of the registry
hive where security information is stored.
