Symantec uninstall - "cannot find the file" error message

DJ

I get an error message when I boot up in Windows 2000. When it appears
on the screen, the computer stops and I have to click on the box before
it will procede. After that it boots up and operates normally.

"Cannot find the file c:\progra~`1\symantec\LIVEUP~1\LUSET~1.exe (or
one of its components)..."

I am VERY ignorant about this stuff, but I think Windows is trying to
start the Symantec live update setup program, which no longer exists on
my hard drive. I UNINSTALLED all symantec stuff a while ago when I
began using a different antivirus software. There is no symantec
programs listed in the remove programs menu of the Control Panel. I
could no file or folder labeled symantec, lusetup, or luset* on my hard
drive.

I did a text searh for the string "LUSET" and found several files that
contain it, all in the directory: C:\WINNT\TEMP\RarSFX0

LUINFO (opens with notepad - appears to be a list of commands - see
contents below - it lists LUSETUP.exe within it)
LUinsDll.dll
Readme (opens with notepad - a lengthy informational text file as you'd
expect)

Can anyone advise me what to do to get rid of this error message?
Thanks MUCH!

Added: I found a "Removal Tool" on the Symantec site - I ran it twice
and it did not eliminate the error message.

Natively you can; Start\Settings\Control Panel\Administrative Tools\Computer
Management(Local)\System Information\Software Environment\Startup
Programs|View|Advanced, then in the "Location" column, you'll find the path
to the "Startup" location either in the "Startup" directories or from the
registry's "Run" keys. (note that this window is read-only so you must
manually navigate to the location below to edit or otherwise delete)

%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
%USERPROFILE%\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

You can delete the shortcuts that you no longer want to run.

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

You can delete the string value for the program you no longer want to run.

or copy msconfig from Windows XP to the "windows" directory
or AutoRuns from sysinternals
http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/Autoruns.html

If it runs as a service then look for something here.

Start|Run|services.msc
