Same app different OS

One partition has English XP and English programs, another partition
has Czech XP and Czech programs. Some programs don't have Czech
versions, so I install the English version under Czech XP - usually
no significant problems.

Until now I've used PartitionMagic and Boot Magic where one language
partition was active while the other was hidden. Now I'm using XP
dual boot where I can see both partitions at the same time. Example:
while running Czech XP on drive G I can open C:\Filename.txt via
Windows Explorer.

What about an app that's installed on English XP not on Czech XP? Can
I run that from Czech XP? Reluctant to try it without guidance for fear
of bringing both systems down.

The Windows XP boot loader cannot selectively hide partitions
from each other. This means that both of your WinXP installations
are now visible, one on drive C:, the other probably on drive D:.
The one on drive D: either won't run at all or it won't run properly.
I recommend you return to your previous boot manager so that
you can hide one partition at a time.

Yes, it is a bit eerie seeing both partitions, surprised me when I saw
it was possible, as it seems to open the door to possible abuse. I
abandoned PartitionMagic and Boot Magic as PM under Symantec seems to
be getting a number of bad postings and I experienced some odd messages
and one disquieting result with it. Seemed safer and more
straightforward to use XP's capability to dual boot. Though it does
call for some personal discipline not to monkey with the alternate OS
and its apps from the other OS.
