Many USB devices use cached read/writes to memory. The
Safely Remove icon is used to complete all pending
operations and shutdown the device. The icon hurts nothing,
on the contrary it is useful. Not all devices require the
use of the safely remove operation, but flash memory and
hard drives certainly will be more secure if you use the
icon.
| Hello Carey,
|
| Thanks for the references. I used the instruction from
your first link but
| ran into a problem. When I open the window showing the
Safely Remove
| Hardware properties, there is no "Customize" button. I get
the same window
| as shown in the instructions so I wonder if they made an
error or if I am
| missing something.
|
| Can you see what I might be doing wrong?
|
| Thanks,
|
| Bob
