SafeBoot locks up after installing latest Windows Download

McAfee Safeboot worked fine until the latest windows update was automatically
installed when I shut down the computer, days ago. Now if I put the computer
into Hibernate or Standby mode, when I try to get it to restart, SafeBoot
accepts my password info then clears the SafeBoot screen and then locks
up......the only way out is to do a 5 second power button shutdown and
reboot, losing all the applications (>10 at a time) that I had running.

This is a HUGE pain. McAfee states that SafeBoot is working fine, but that
there is a known bug with a piece of the latest download from MS.

Any way to get around this ? Does anyone know which part of the download
caused this?

Is there some way to back out the latest download?

You could try a System Restore to a point before this problem occurred.
Go to Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore. Just
follow the instructions.
Turn off Automatic Update Service. Rt click MyComputer>select
Manage>
