Safe version of Speed Disk

I have Norton System Works 2002 installed in my Win2k Pro, version 5.0.2195,
Service pack 4 laptop. When I try to use Speed disk to defrag I get a
warning that this version of Speed disk has not been tested on my NT5
version
4, although it is OK for other NT versions. They suggest I update through
LiveUpdate. When I do I am told it is up to date in spite of Windows telling
me it isn't. I went to Symantec support website (support???big joke) and
they
have no KB articles or any support resource for this issue. Can someone tell
me if
there is any site where I can find out if its safe to use Speed disk on this
NT5
version safely without running any risk of causing a problem to my system?
Or shall I just forget using it, deem it useless and uninstall it? Thanks,
Josie

Try Raxco Perfect Disk, you'll love it. I switched from Norton Speed Disk
for the very reason you're outoining here ... absolutely crappy support.

Biggest thing is you can't easily schedule it.

Thanks Dave. Unfortunately Symantec tells me that NSW2002 is an "older"
version and no longer merits support. I possibly could get help if I am
willing to pay for it, which am not. Is the defrag utility that came with
Win2k good enough or do you recommend another one? Josie

Symantec support is your only hope of finding out. Post the question to
their support site.

I will check it out, am so disappointed with Symantec, as many others are. A
lot of negative comments about them in the forum network these days. Thanks.

FWIW, it'll probably work fine.
You can backup, and (later) restore if you're worried.

Thanks for "seconding" the motion, I already downloaded it and installed it.
Will try it tonight. Thanks a bunch.

I just did a clean NTFS install of Win 2000 and update to Service Pack
4, followed by an install of SystemWorks 2003 Pro, plus all updates. I
get the same warning when I launch Speed Disk.
