Safe to use Ad Banner Killer?

Even though I have Microsofts Internet Explorer with
the pop-up blocker, I still am getting alot of annoying
pop-up's and banners flashing, etc.
I checked-out Google to look at Ad Killer, Ad Banner,
Pop-up Killer, etc, and there are quite a few indeed.
My question is: Which one would any of you great
people recommend, or not at all; and are they safe
and compatible to use of my system?
My system: Acer 2450 laptop
Windows XP - Explorer 7 - SP2
with Spy-bot, Windows Defender &
Maliciuos software tool installed.
- all systems updated

look at getting a flash blocker, like spyware blaster, in the tools section
you can check to block flash, (A warning, if you access sites like banks that
require flash, this will block them from viewing properly).
also I have an OLD version of adshield, it also can selectively block banner
ads.
also KAS Internet security has a blocking feature, it is rather complicated
however.

I used to use that feature in Spywareblaster, but there are times I want
Flash enabled. A better and faster method is to use TurnFlash:

And to slick1:

You may find a Hosts file useful, too:

or http://someonewhocares.org/hosts/

You may also want to check out one of these programs:

Proxomitron
Privoxy
WebWasher
