Safe mode

I just installed some video software -- when I rebooted,
the computer goes as far as the user page. When I click
on the user, nothing happens. Completely locked. How can
I get into it to fix it? Is there s "Safe Mode" in XP?
Hopefully, I won't have to rebuild from scratch. Thanks!

If you start your PC and tap F8,
You get options so select:
"Last known good configuration"
You may have to do this more than once.

Not always a fix but often is.
You may also have a faulty video card.

If you want to go to safe mde in XP before startup screen

appears press F5 to go to safe mode then check your video
settings and driver
