safe mode will not start correctly, it brings up file
names for a all the drivers in system32, and goes no
further. I am tryin to start safe mode becaus ei ahve
disabled the display driver and so have no display when
windows starts, so alternately, does any know of another
method of enabling the display driver,

Try doing a Repair Install. Here are instructions:
