I believe I can re-start my PC in Safe Mode without using F8 - can anyone
help? I have a wireless keyboard with an F Lock key and it takes ages
sometime to get the option to start in safe mode to work!

Use MSConfig.Exe. Click the Boot.Ini (Tab) Tic/Check the
/SafeBoot option. When done with Safemode - Reverse the
steps to return to normal mode.

Click Start > Run > type msconfig and then click OK.
In the System Configuration Utility, on the BOOT.INI tab, check
/SAFEBOOT.Click OK.
When you are asked to restart the computer, click Restart. The computer
restarts in Safe mode.

Hello Jim,
You can add additional entries in the boot.ini to start with the safe mode
options.
833721 Available switch options for the Windows XP and the Windows Server
2003
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=833721
So at boot time the boot menu will present whichever safe mode options you
want to see and you can simply select them. This doesn't requiore the use
of a function key on the keyboard.
Thanks,
