Safe mode oddity

L

Lou

The following occurs on Xp Home with SP2.

I have 2 users defined, an administrator named larry and a limited
account named visitor. Under documents and folders I see directory
structures for these 2 accounts in addition to one for Administrator
plus others for system functions.

When I go into safe mode and login as the Administrator (not larry), a
new directory structure is created in documents and folders named
administrator.computername where computername is the computer name.
I've delected that directory structure but it is created every time I
log in with the Administrator ID.

Everything seems to work fine in safe mode whether I log in with larry
or the Administrator id. Both larry and the Administrator user id are
password protected.

Thanks for any comments.

The C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\ADMINISTRATOR path may no longer be in
use, therefore ADMINISTRATOR.{computer name} is created. This can
happen when you reinstall Windows XP on top of the old files.
When logged on as "Administrator" , open a DOS box and type
SET
Under "UserProfile" you can find the actual profile folder.
