Can you give the exact text of the message?
This sounds more like the monitor itself giving you the message - not the
computer.
Have you played with the monitor menus to assure you are telling it to get
signal from the correct input, etc?

The monitor says this: INFORMATION
Monitor is in power save mode
Activate Using PC

That cuts it - the computer is not getting a signal to the monitor. If your
monitor has more than one way to get a signal to it (VGA, DVI, RGB, other?)
then it is very possible your monitor is set to automatically detect what
type is connected and it is doing this incorrectly.

If there is a way to hard-code the monitor to a certain type - do so.

If the monitor only has one input type - you could have adefective cable
(VGA/DVI, etc..)

In other words - try to change the input type the monitor is looking for to
match the computer.

Also - how many outputs does your computer have? Is it dual-monitor capable
or might it have had a built-in video card (on the motherboard) and an
additional one was added later?
