Runtime Error

When I try and open a excel or word application it comes up with a error:
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
Program C:\MicrosoftOffice\Office10\EXCEL.EXE
I tried uninstalling MS Office, deleted all folders & reinstalled but still
same error.
It won't let me do anything except close to close the error message.
OS is WinXP Home Edition & MS office 2000 is the application
Can somebody help? Thanks
